Frequently Asked Questions :

"Where should I buy my puppy from?"
Education is the MAIN key. Educate yourself about the breed and the breeder that you are going to be buying your dog from. Make sure that the breeder isn't a "puppy mill". .
"What size are your dogs? "
They usually range from 3 - 5.5 lbs sometimes I get one that will grow to 6 lbs.
"How are they raised from puppy until they leave you?"
Are asking if they are raised in a pen and what kind of socializing here’s what I’d say. They are raised under my feet!!!!!!!!! I take them to town and local dog shows as they get older. The boys I now have are always UNDER FOOT, it seems and spoiled rotten. Bark at me when I'm cooking just waiting for me to drop a morsel, of course they know they get a taste now and then when I cook. They don't get to run the kitchen, deck through the doggie door, until they are about 12 weeks. I don't sell any puppies before 12 weeks and sometimes they are 5 or 6 months old, depending on their size. The smaller the longer I keep them to be sure they are healthy and will have no problems.
"Do you have a contract?"
The contract gives you 7 days to take the puppy to the vet at your expense. Should there be anything wrong, in his opinion; a written statement of proof is required. A full refund is given upon return of the puppy. For congenital defects, such as heart,  or liver shunt (which I have never had liver shunt in any of my dogs) on one occasion, I did replace a puppy that turned out with a heart problem.
"I'd really like to talk to you and ask a bunch of questions is that ok?"
Yes that is fine, I really don't mind at all.
"How many litters do you ave usually in a year?"
Around 2 - 3 usually.
"How long does it take to have puppies?"
63 days
"Can I visit the puppies once they are born?"
Coming to visit new puppies is fine, but not until they are 4-6 wk's old. I don't want to expose puppies to anything.
"Can you take pictures of the "new baby puppies?"
I will try to take pictures in a few days after they are born, I don't want to stress them or the mother by taking pictures just yet.  The first 2 weeks are the toughest.
"What do you feed the puppies at first?"
They are on Gerber chicken mixed with goat milk and pabulum and a little of mama's adult science diet canned beef and chicken.  Chicken is easier digested than beef.  Puppies need more calories so adult food is not good until they are about a year old.  Dry food, I feed Bill-J ac select.  They also have a puppy dry food. I change this frequently.
"What do you feed your adult dogs?"
I feed all of them the Bill-Jac select as a dry food.
I do change off from time to time. I use to feed Flint River, which has to be ordered out of Calif. and shipped. It’s a good food, but not as easy to purchase. I change off from time to time; they get tired of the same stuff over and over. Need to be careful of the contents when selecting a good food. For the canned (soft) I have used Science diet for a long time, but they won't eat anything except the Beef & Chicken adult.
"Will my dog be registered with the AKC or will I have the ability to do that?"
You will be able to register them with AKC; you will get a litter registration form you can send in with $15.00 (cost right now).
"Can I have the vet information (name, phone, address) that you took them to for their records?"
The vet I normally use is: DR MARK REIF, 505-374-3223 1100 S First, Clayton, NM 87740
"Will you be giving me a list of the dates (with shot info) that I will be able to take to my vet here so they will know what they had and when?"
I keep a card with shot dates and type of vaccine (Fort Dodgs Puppy) which you can have. They will need their 3rd shot, DO NOT use another brand of puppy shot, there can be a reaction.
"How many shots will my puppy have had?"
Two puppy shots.
"When you took them to the vet I am assuming that you put the puppy in a crate what did you have in the bottom of the crate?"
I always put a towel, or kennel pad in the bottom of every kennel, they are slick and if they throw up, they aren’t walking in it. You can also wrap the pillow with a pillow case to remove when soiled, or you can use the throw away pads they use in hospitals that are water proof on one side. You can buy these at Wal-Mart.
"What do you think they will be eating when my puppy leaves your house? "
They will be on Bill Jac Select, if you can get the Bill Jac puppy. I would just get a small sack at first. They already like the Select, but the puppy would have more protein. Too much protein for to long can cause kidney damage, so slack off or mix the two for a while.
"Do you have both mother and father?"
Yes, normally I do have both or have bred my dogs with someone that I know.
"What do you ask for your puppies?"
Depends on the quality (pet quality or show quality) of the dog and the sex of the dog.
"Do you always have puppies?"
No, I do not always have puppies. Yes, sometimes I do have a waiting list for certain litters or certain types (meaning show quality).
"Once I get a dog from you if I have questions may I contact you?"
Yes, by all means please do I would love to hear from you and always love getting pictures! You can reach me best by email.
"If you are going to show your dogs in a local dog show may I come and see you?"
Yes, just let me know you will be there in case I need to bring something for you.
"Are the dogs on your web site current?"
Yes, I try to make sure that the site is as accurate as I can (or as fast as I can get the pictures taken).
"What standards are you breeding to?"
My dogs are breed to the standard of Gun barrel blue and gold. Some are shaded lighter or darker. Some have the baby doll face and some have the foxy face. Weight of most is between 2 1/2 lbs to 5 1/2 lbs.
